New Feature Release - Secured (Encrypted) Email

I’m pleased to announce the arrival of a new feature set for you. Beginning today, you can now send secured encrypted email messages to internal and external users.

Things to know:

1. Email will be encrypted for all users if this process is followed, including internal users.
2. Email sent externally to non-GOAL users is NOT encrypted by default. You need to follow this simple process to ensure encryption:

(This process will work in both Desktop and Web version of Outlook.)

Step 1, open a new blank email message.
Step 2, enter your recipient(s) in the “To…” field.
Step 3, type the word “Encrypted” (without quotes) into the subject line, followed by your subject. (Example: Encrypted – Quote Request)
Step 4, type your message and send.


The external user will receive an encrypted mail from you that they will need a free Microsoft account to open, or they can generate a one-time passcode to view the message. The email that they receive will contain step-by-step instructions on how to set up their account and open your message.

Encrypted email is best used for sensitive information transmission, such as employee data, financial information, or other personally-identifiable information.
